The pain might have been mitigated a bit by the early lead

He turned it around Sunday, pitching seven innings, giving up four hits and three walks, and striking out eight. In the process, he lowered his earned run average to 2.83. It was not quite the wondrous ease he showed a month and a half ago, but it was a highly effective performance nonetheless, and made him the National League's first 14-game winner.

"I felt like I had a good knuckleball pretty much the whole night," said Dickey, who battled nausea and stomach pains all game.

The pain might have been mitigated a bit by the early lead his teammates had given him. In the first inning, David Wright blasted a double off the base of the wall in right-center field, bringing in Daniel Murphy from first base.
